As soon as the sun peeked through the clouds Thursday morning on February 8, the 11th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Festival was officially open. Pilots from around the world, gathered at Clark Airfield once again to participate in the annual event. Day one of the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta proved to be a success as crowds gathered and stayed throughout the day from take off to landing.
December 15 marked the second SPINDependence, again at the Lopez strip in Power Plant, Rockwell. Planet Zips, Manila's premiere community of poi enthusiasts, spun both fire and ribbon poi for a visually attractive spectacle, making it clear to all that it was definitely 'hip to zip on the Rockwell Strip.'
The Zippers left the crowd awestruck with their creative mélange of colors, rhythms and pulses. Curious onlookers were treated to both zipping and samba percussion clinics - for free. The crowd also enjoyed feature performances by Cosmic Love, Nyco Maca and Escola Brasileira de Capoeira Filipinas.
